MarineXML
The Directorate of Oceanography and Meteorology implements MarineXML as the internal data format and basis for its´ marine data management framework. MarineXML's structure allows for complete encapsulation of all possible marine environmental parameters including metadata, quality assessments and their results and a complete history of edits made to the data throughout its entire life, thus making it the ideal archiving format.
Most data management systems and procedures now revolve around data in MarineXML. MarineQC semi-automatically validates incoming marine environmental data in MarineXML and writes any results within the appropriate elements.
MarineXML Documentation
- MarineXML Schema Documentation provides a detailed description of the XML encoding of oceanographic data at the AODC.
- An XML Based Marine Data Management Framework is a document that describes in basic terms how MarineXML is not just a data format but the basis for a framework of applications to manage the data. Paper presented at the First Session of the JCOMM/IODE Expert Team on Data Management Practices in Oostende, Belgium, 15-18 September 2003
- Development and Use of Marine XML within the Australian Oceanographic Data Centre to Encapsulate Marine Data. Paper presented at the first session of the Study Group on the Development of Marine Data Exchange Systems using XML in Helsinki, Finland on 15-16 April, 2002
